Sometimes life just gets in the way and you’re busy all day and need to grab a bite to eat, but you notice its after 10pm and your left with choosing a drive-thru or maybe even Waffle House. Not that I have anything against Waffle House, I actually quite enjoy going there. But Nashville has many numerous other options to explore on your late night dining adventures with friends. I have fallen victim to the struggle of having to find dinner after 10p due to working two jobs and sometimes after working my evening part-time job, it’s nice to sit down with coworkers and talk while enjoying a good meal that I don’t have to cook or do the dishes! Of course there are more options than just these ten (that are featured in no particular order) but these would be my top/go-to picks.
San Antonio Taco Company
SatCo is one of my favorite places to eat in Nashville whether it is late at night or not. Ordering here is a little different than most places. When you walk in you will be greeted by notepads and pencils lined up a long a shelf from the entrance to the register. Here is where you will write in your order. Once completed walk up the register and hand them your order. If the weather is nice, take advantage of sitting outside on the patio.
Hours: Open til 12a
My Pick: Chicken fajita tacos with chips and queso.
M.L. Rose
M.L. Rose is usually a top pick for our group that goes out to eat after working in the evening. They have a great beer selection and they offer your typical bar food style menu with burgers, quesadillas and healthier options like salads. The waffle fries are pretty amazing and hard to turn down. Also, if you are a trivia fan join them on Tuesdays for Trivia Night!
Hours: Open until 1a
My Pick: Chicken quesadilla and waffle fries. Definitely choose their waffle fries.
Double Dogs
Double Dogs is one of my favorite spots to not only enjoy a good meal but to watch a Predators game if I am unable to attend in person. There is no shortage of tv’s so more than likely if a game is on you’ll be able to watch. I typically visit the location in West Nashville. They also have outdoor seating available to take advantage of.
Hours: Open til 12a (1am on Thurs-Sat)
My Pick: Breakfast Dog with Fries and if you can save room for dessert, the moosetracks milkshake is fantastic!
Hermitage Cafe
One thing you will need to know about the Hermitage Cafe before you go is that they are cash only. There is an atm available if you don’t have any cash with you. The seating will also be limited. Hermitage cafe has also served as a filming location for the tv show Nashville, as well as music videos for Rascal Flatts and Sugarland.
Hours: They don’t even open until 10p! And remain open til 130p.
My Pick: Either the french toast or a cheese omelette (comes with home fries and toast) and a order of bacon.
Five Points Pizza
Five Points Pizza has been named best pizza by the Nashville Scene for the last FIVE YEARS in a row and they definitely live up to the title. Serving New York style pizza, stromboli and salads.
Hours: Open until 11p (12a on Fri-Sat)
My Pick: Cheese Pizza by the slice, and I definitely recommend splitting an order of the garlic knots with your group.
Mafioza’s
Yes, yet another New York style pizza place is totally necessary on this list. Mafioza’s also serves great pastas and desserts (Cannoli, anyone?) in addition to their pizzas. You can get a whole pie or pizza by the slice.
Hours: Open til 3a (closed on Mondays)
My Pick: cheese pizza by the slice and if room for dessert, order a cannoli!
The Pub
The atmosphere of The Pub is one of my favorites in Nashville. It’s British-Style design and menu will help you escape the typical Nashville Honky-tonk bar atmosphere that most restaurants in town feature (Mainly those on Broadway).
Hours: Open until 12a (kitchen will close at 11p).
My Pick: A hot ham and swiss on a pretzel bun.
Cafe Coco
I feel like Cafe Coco is a hidden gem of Nashville but one you will need to check out. They offer a wide variety of food from pastas and pizzas to breakfast and salads, or even coffee! Don’t want to leave your home to go get Cafe Coco? They partner with Order Up so that you can have it delivered to your door!
Hours: Open until 12a Mon-Wed, 24 hours on Thurs- Sat
My Pick: Cheese pizza or Build Your Own Breakfast Sandwich and their cheesecake!
The Slider House
The Slider House serves gourmet sliders and offers a great selection of beer. They even offer vegetarian sliders for those who don’t eat meat. The parmesean fries will be the only side you will need to decide on. Can’t go wrong with burgers, fries and a beer! Oh….and there is live music!
Hours: Open til 12a (2a on Fri-Sat)
My Pick: All-American Slider (plain only cheese, add bacon) with fries.
Von Elrod’s
It’s only appropriate that a German themed restaurant is located in the Germantown neighborhood of Nashville. It is also a great choice before or after an event at First Tennessee Park since it is located next door. Von Elrod’s has a great selection of beer from all over the world and sausages are made in house!
Hours: Open till 11p Mon-Wed, til 12a Thurs-Sat and until 9p on Sundays.
My Pick: Housemade Pretzel or the Coney Dog (I get mine plain – picky eater problems).
