I’ve never been known as a “movie buff” and usually nine times out of ten if you ask me if I have seen a certain movie the answer will be no. I am the worst person to pick when it comes to playing the game Scene It, because well….I haven’t seen “it”.
However, now that MoviePass has been introduced into my life that is about to change.
Going to movies, at least for me, was hard because I didn’t want to spend the money on a movie ticket and sometimes concessions. Does this sound like you? Do you miss out on seeing all the movies you want to see and narrow it down to one every so often because of the cost? I know I can’t be alone on this. This is why I’m here to help you see all the movies you want to see!
What is this thing?
This is a monthly subscription service, and if you have been following me for a while you know I love a good subscription service! It will cost you approximately $10 per month and you can see ONE movie per day.
How do you use it?
You can sign up online at MoviePass.com or download the app. The app is available in both the Google and Apple app stores. You will need the app anyway so you might as well just download the app and sign up there. You will receive a card (it will look like a credit card but is NOT a credit card) in the mail approximately 1-2 weeks after you sign up. It took about a week for mine to arrive. You will not be able to use your MoviePass until the card arrives. Once the card arrives you can begin seeing ALL. THE. MOVIES!
When you arrive at the theater, you will open the app, select your theater you are going to and find the movie/movie time you are wanting to attend. Once you find the movie you want to see, select the time and then select check-in (you must be at the theater to check-in, you can not check in from home or down the street). You will have 30 minutes from when you hit check-in to get to the ticket window to “pay” for your movie. When you get to the ticket window tell the rep what movie/time you are seeing, hand them your Regal or Carmike card (gotta still earn those loyalty points!) and they will ask for your payment card. This is when you had them your movie pass. The movie pass will be pre-loaded (because you checked-in to the movie) with your “payment”. The rep will hand you your movie ticket and you will be off to see a great flick with your friends.
What is the catch?
There is no catch! That really is it. You pay $10/month to see one movie per day. However, one downfall I have encountered is you can’t see the same movie more than once even if it is a different day (There goes going to see The Greatest Showman everyday!). You can only have one user per account. So, mom/dad, brother/sister, boyfriend/girlfriend will need to get their own MoviePass – but hey it’ll make date nights easier since you won’t have to argue over who’s paying!
Now you can go see all the movies from ones you were on the fence about to ones you have been dying to see – you can now see them all for only $10/month!
Happy viewing!
